Hello Lovebirds!
Flying Little Birds was delighted to attend the Spring / Summer 2025 New York Bridal Fashion Week when was unveiled the latest collections of bridal designers around the globe. We braved torrential rainy days and witnessed absolutely stunning runaways and presentations that were truly inspiring. It was fascinating to dive into each designer’s inspirations behind their collections, and see them reflected in the details of their gowns.
Among so many options, choosing your wedding dress should be a beautiful journey of embracing who you are and how you want to feel on your wedding day. Let us share with you our favorite trends in the bridal world of fashion so that you can get inspired when choosing your own wedding dress.
Ethereal 3D Blossoms Appliqués
There is no shortage of inspirations when it comes to the creative ways we saw 3D blossoms appliqués on wedding gowns. From tiny to exaggerated blooms, the collections featured flower accents for romantic and contemporary brides. Galia Lahav’s floral appliqués as second skin with transparent layering were breathtaking. Mira Zwillinger’s collection, “Reflection” was filled with movement and seduction, with blooms used on coordinated veils and sheer skirts.

Versatile Dresses
We are excited to see designers creating versatile pieces that can transform the overall bridal look according to the moment of the wedding day. Convertible dresses, capes, party minis, bridal separates and two pieces dresses are all trending as brides are looking to embrace their individuality and switch up their look for each of the different events related to their wedding celebration!

More Than Just Sleeves…
As designers embrace their own visions to offer a versatile approach to their gowns, we’ve seen the sleeves as structural element of the look. From long sleeve with high-neck toppers to laced second skin to dropped sleeves. They are more than just sleeves. They are detachable capes, boleros and veils that transform the look when they are removed.

A Touch of Color
Rather than bold and monochromatic colorful looks as seen in the past few seasons, we observed color coming as a touch of detail to leverage the overall look experience. From colorful floral embroideries to veils in an accent color, the path to color is dedicated to express a statement. Accessories and details lead the way introducing a color of pop. Yellow Bow designs incorporated colorful hems that can be customized to the brides’s color preference. Sarah Nouri added a touch of blue with a statement bow. ZB Couture is elevated their dresses into a true piece of art, with blossoming blue hand painted peonies over the detachable oversized skirt.

Bows
From oversized to delicate mini bow details, we have seen bows with a twist for the contemporary romantic bride. One of our favorite approaches was from the talented Japanese designer, Yuichi Uno, from Ituwa. Their 2025 Collection brings one-of-a-kind large bows inspired by traditional kimonos’ obi. And if you are following along the wedding design trends, you certainly noticed that mini bows are everywhere, from flower arrangements to table setting!

Mini Dresses
Brides are having fun choosing their attire to each moment of their wedding celebration. Mini dresses were seen amongst designers, in beautiful variations. From rehearsal dinners, to after party and brunches, mini dresses were presented in coordination with removable skirts, veils, boleros and gloves. From night sparkle mini dresses to daily fun attire, we have seen a number of opportunities for brides to wear them on their wedding festivities.
