2023 Wedding Trends
Hello Lovebirds!
In 2023 we are expecting to see trends that began as a result of the global pandemic taking shape and have a new life. Even before the pandemic we noticed that engaged couples were completely rethinking their approach to their wedding plans. This often meant forgoing traditional rules and allowing them to feel more comfortable to celebrate their love in their own way. So here it comes, the time for couples to decide on the rules of your their wedding celebration.
Intimate Ceremonies & Big Celebrations
Covid-era “micro weddings” had couples appreciating the intimacy of smaller events with their closest loved ones. In 2023, we are expecting to see couples having intimate ceremonies and saving the long guest list for the parties. From destination wedding weekends to lavish welcome parties and after parties, couples are ready to celebrate big after the years-long pandemic. Who doesn’t want to keep the party on and on?
Bridal Attire
Brides are loving an outfit change in 2023! Convertible dresses, capes, party minis, bridal separates and two pieces dresses are all trending as brides are looking to embrace their individuality and switch up their look for each of the different events related to their wedding celebration. As we look at the takeaway from the past Bridal Fashion Week, we expect to see the more colorful wedding dresses, with patterns and soft shades of blush and blue. Brides aren’t the only ones having fun with their looks and color – for grooms, we are seeing color! Yes, grooms and their groomsmen are loving to add pops of color to their looks by way of accessories.

Wedding Party
We are excited to see couples putting their own spin on their wedding parties. With an increase in smaller ceremonies, many couples are forgoing wedding parties completely. Others are also straying from tradition by choosing not to distinguish a side for bridesmaids and groomsmen and mixing the two. When it comes to bridal party attire, we expect to see less matching bridesmaids dresses and instead, bridesmaids choosing their own style of dress that follows a designated color palette. We are also excited to see more bold colors and even prints show up in wedding party attire!
Guest Experience
Another trend we are loving for 2023, is an increased focus on the overall guest experience. Not only we are seeing events hosted for guests through our wedding weekend, but also creative ways to have guests interacting throughout the celebrations. Many couples are putting their own spin on traditional aspects by having guests leave voicemail “guestbook” messages, creating interactive seating charts, setting-up over-the-top appetizer, and dessert tables, “guest book” and using wedding favors that also serve as escort cards.
Color & Florals
As couples are embracing their own unique design visions, we have noticed a shift away from the “traditional” white, blush, and greenery palette towards bold colors (Hello, Pantone Color of the Year - Viva Magenta!). We are especially loving incorporating these vivid colors in floral arrangements. Speaking of florals – there is an increased focus on sustainability (not to mention $$ saving) by repurposing ceremony flowers and aisle decor, for the reception space as well.
Private Moments
With the onset of Covid-era "micro weddings," couples have appreciated intimates moments to celebrate their love. One of these new moments of intimacy that we see many couples are is to share their vows privately before their ceremony. We also have seen more and more brides having first look with their fathers and bridesmaids. Lastly we see couples willing to share a private last dance. We love all of these news trends, and hope they will stay. And as a pro tip, make sure your planner consider extra time on the schedule of the day and make sure the photographer will be there for capturing the images.
The 35 mm Film
We are also envisioning a big trend in wedding photography taking place and inspiring couples. It is all about faded vintage “film look” to their photos. Not necessarily the whole wedding is being captured with the 35 mm, but a few shots can add the flavor from the 80s. And if you want to add to the guest experience, strategically spread disposable cameras throughout your wedding. You can be surprised with the output your guests will come out with!
